Welcome to KaC

Welcome to Kids as Critics! After months of preparation we are finally up and running. I’m a fourteen year old going into high school. I live in the New York suburbs, an hour outside of the city. I came up with the idea for this site after I came out of the theater one evening. I had just seen West Side Story and was Very disappointed. I found it to be unbelievably slow and quite dated even though it’s a timeless story. Once I came out of the theater I was talking to my parents and we started talking about a place for kids and teens, who like me, are very interested in the arts, to critique shows. From there the idea of Kids as Critics was born and was expanded.

This site is for kids 9 to 17 to critique anything and everything. This includes: theater, television, movies, books, music, food, politics, and sports, plus there is a miscellaneous category as well.

What I hope this site will become is a place for kids by kids.

A place where we can discuss how we feel, good or bad, what we love, what we like and what we detest, about the world around us. I mean We Have Valid Opinions!!!! and we should have an open place to talk about our interests with our peers from all across the country to all across the world. However, when critiquing we must explain our opinions. Also there’s No Flaming, this means that we can’t write anything vulgar or discriminatory and we have to explain what we mean. For example, you cannot write: “this book is so stupid don’t read it”. You actually have to say why something is “stupid” and why people shouldn’t read it. In addition, you can’t type “this is the best movie ever go see it now”. Again you have to explain why. On another note this isn’t a place for beginning rumors or a place of gossip. This is a place for us to share what we have to say with the rest of the world.
